San Jose says hello to buybuyBABY
The first buybuyBABY store on the West Coast will open at Almaden Plaza in south San Jose.
The store is affiliated with home merchandise retail giant Bed, Bath & Beyond Inc. of Union, N.J.
BuybuyBABY sells baby-oriented apparel, car seats, health care items, furniture and toys. It will move into a nearly 38,000 square-foot space formerly occupied by Circuit City.
The retailer was represented in the deal by Don Krieger and Drew Greenspan of Terranomics Retail Services.
No financial details of the transaction were disclosed.
There are 28 buybuyBABY stores located in 14 states nationwide, with most in the Northeast, Southeast and Midwest. The farthest west the chain has expanded to date is the Phoenix area.
Almaden Plaza is also anchored by Costco, Barnes & Noble Booksellers, Trader Joe’s, TJMaxx and Ross Dress for Less.
